AWeber – A Popular Email Marketing Automation Software

Why AWeber?

Based in the U.S., AWeber, the powerful email marketing automation software has been around since 2000 and claims to have invented the autoresponder. While this claim is hotly contested (GetResponse also contends that they invented it), AWeber has had plenty of time to perfect it’s core competency, marketing automation, and they do a decent job of it.

Customers have access to all their features from day one, and it’s only increasing subscriber numbers that increase the membership price. Apart from automation, AWeber offers split testing and their ‘Email Web Analytics’, allowing you to use your own domain for click tracking URLs and tracking product sales easily. Providing all features up-front with every plan, their pricing is entirely based on the number of contacts on your list. In addition to email automation, AWeber offers effective split-testing and web analytics for click and sales tracking to your own domain. They also have the ability to edit campaigns on-the-go via a mobile app. Not the most powerful platform, but very strong nonetheless.

The easiest autoresponder for beginners.

Fantastic. I don't think i'll ever change autoresponder. I've tried GetResponse and others and they are also awesome, but I like the simplicity of Aweber so I don't really see why I would ever change. I've used Aweber since 2014, and i've NEVER had an issue with them. Sure, they have downtime just like every other autoresponder a couple times per year, but it's always fixed really quickly. The deliverability is awesome, it's extremely easy to use and their customer is support is insanely responsive. I have had to do a few minor changes to my account every now and then, I kid you not, they have taken care of my issues usually within 2-3 minutes of me opening up the chat (which is now open 24/7)

Used daily for 4-5 years

Rating details

Ease of Use

The menu structure generally bodes well, albeit a few segments are somewhat covered up. It loses points in sections such as within the editor, where bizarre bugs create a negative user experience. Likewise, their wording could be confusing for even experienced clients: automations are called ‘campaigns', and regular emails are called ‘broadcasts'. Additionally, The fact that you have to join with a credit card for the free trial feels somewhat old.

Newsletter Creation

My head took quite a long time to get around the editor; however, in saying that, it allowed for various segments I needed to make our monthly newsletter. For example, I could make triple column sections and text with in-line pictures. It unquestionably looks somewhat dated when contrasted to other email editors. What's more, bugs affected the editor with the template selection panel jumping all over the page.

Like various tools, If/Then/Else logic is available in a genuinely standard format.

Email types

Classic newsletters, autoresponders, and A/B testing.

Choice and Flexibility of Template Designs

There's a decent selection of responsive templates available. Some of them look somewhat obsolete.

Email Automation

It's great to see that they have certain automation features. It would be great to see a somewhat more complex system. It takes into consideration making triggered messages, constrained to when somebody subscribes to a list or has a specific tag. At that point when you're ready to communicate something specific, apply a tag or set a waiting period.

List Management

AWeber has great list segmentation, enabling you to oversee subscribers through their automation features. You can easily set up a rule, for instance, that unsubscribes a person from a particular list in the wake of leaving another.

Registration Forms/ Opt-in & Opt-out- Process

You're given style alternatives for pop-ups, popovers and lightbox, yet this segment truly needs a refreshed design. It's complicated and difficult to use. Concerning including contacts, it has standard alternatives available. However, one thing to be careful about is that at whatever point you manually add subscribers, they'll get a default opt-in email. This could be an issue in case you're just moving a couple of individuals that have already subscribed.

We would have gotten a kick out of the chance to have seen better outcomes from AWeber. Tragically it has been scoring poorly in our deliverability tests. In our findings, it should be evident that it had issues reaching contacts with Microsoft email addresses (Outlook and Hotmail).

Reports and Analysis

Reporting is great, even though it looks basic. You can get names of openers and clickers, geo-tracking information, and furthermore conversion and e-commerce tracking data. You can likewise modify your analytics dashboard easily. However, there isn't an immediate Google Analytics integration available.

The site is just available in English.

Support is quick and friendly, by all means. Their knowledge base is excellent, yet it tends to be difficult to get relevant search results now and again. I'd prescribe email and online chat over the knowledge base.

Overall rating

While AWeber has the fundamentals, it simply doesn't give enough advanced features, or sufficient user experience for the asking price. You can get more for your cash with other email tools.
